Nitrogen small portable containers

Liquid nitrogen is shipped and stored in small portable containers (dewar flasks), which hold quantities ranging from 1 gal to 25 gal (3.8 L to 95 L) or more. These containers are encased in shells and are heavily insulated they maintain the liquid at atmospheric pressure. [Pg.533]

Other types of small portable vessels find applications in the laboratory or in small workshops. They may be constructed of glass, metal, or a combination of the two. The all-glass dewars are typically evacuated to about 1.3 X 10 MPa and most are coated with a thin silver film in the vacuum space to minimize radiant heat transfer. The size of these glass containers usually ranges from 0.04 to 0.3 m in diameter and up to 2 m in length. Contemporary metal dewars have either an aluminum or stainless steel inner product container with MLI in the vacuum space. Loss rates from 1.5% to 4% per day are typical. However, high performance portable Uquid nitrogen vessels like the ones iUustrated in Fig. 7.39 have loss rates as low as 0.3 % per day. [Pg.452]

DS2, 1 1/2 Quart (including ABC-M11). The Mil is used to decontaminate small areas that soldiers must touch. It is a steel container with an aluminum spray-head assembly and a nitrogen gas cylinder that provides the pressure. It is filled with 1-1/3 quarts of DS2, which is sufficient to cover 135 square feet. The ABC-M11 is an equipment-mounted, standard U.S. Army decontaminating apparatus used for operator spray-down decontamination. The item is man-portable (weight of approximately 5 pounds). The ABC-M11 has been replaced by the M13. [Pg.255]
