Nitrogen bubble

The inlet tube, preferably in the center neck, is placed in such a way that it nearly touches the bottom of the flask. Thereby nitrogen bubbles effect some agitation of the reaction mixture and prevent bumping of the boiling solution. 

In the study by Qu et al. (2004), experiments were conducted with adiabatic nitrogen-water two-phase flow in a rectangular micro-channel. The bubbly, stratified and churn flow patterns commonly encountered in macro-channels were never observed in the study. No water droplets were observed in the nitrogen bubble, nor were any nitrogen bubbles present in the water slugs. 

Dissolve 2-iminothiolane (Thermo Fisher) in degassed, nitrogen-bubbled deionized water at a concentration of 20mg/ml (makes a 0.14M stock solution). The solution should be used immediately. Add 70 pi of the 2-iminothiolane solution to each ml of the gelonin solution (final concentration is about 10 mM). 

Murthy and Ryan [823] used colloid flotation as a means of preconcentration prior to neutron activation analysis for arsenic, molybdenum, uranium, and vanadium. Hydrous iron (III) oxide is floated in the presence of sodium decyl sulfate with small nitrogen bubbles from 1 litre of seawater at pH 5.7. Recoveries of arsenic, molybdenum, and vanadium were better than 95%, whilst that of uranium was about 75%.

N,N-Dimethylformamide was refluxed in the presence of calcium sulfate under reduced pressure and distilled with nitrogen bubbling from a capillary, bp 76°C at 39 mm. 

There is considerable evidence (D3, G7, PI, P4, SI) that bubbles in liquid metals show the behavior expected from studies in more conventional liquids. Because of the large surface tension forces for liquid metals, Morton numbers tend to be low (typically of order 10 ) and these systems are prone to contamination by surface-active impurities. Figure 8.10a shows a two-dimensional nitrogen bubble in liquid mercury. For experimental convenience, the bubbles studied have generally been rather large, so that there are few data available for spherical or slightly deformed ellipsoidal bubbles in liquid metals. Rinse the oil-phase container with 50.0 g of nitrogen-bubbled cooled item 14 and transfer the rinsing to the manufacturing vessel.

A suspension of Os3(CO)12 (0.304 g, 0.335 mmol) and [Ni(CO)( /5-C5Hs)]2 (0.302 g, 0.994 mmol) in 100 mL of octane is stirred at room temperature for 10 min, under a stream of nitrogen bubbled through the solvent. The suspension is then refluxed for 40 min and allowed to cool under nitrogen. The initial red color turns dark brown and a thin metal mirror is deposited on the walls of the flask. 

Chamber 2 Dissolve the mixture I in the buffer solution II, keep it during 5 min under nitrogen bubbles, filter through a 0.2 pm membrane and fill in ampules under nitrogen. The pH-value is about 4. 

Divers who ascend too quickly can develop the bends, a condition caused by the formation of nitrogen bubbles in the blood. Treatment involves placement in this high-pressure tank called a hyperbaric chamber, and a slow, controlled change to atmospheric pressure.
