New Deal

Business to welfare - mentoring people on Welfare to Work (US) and New Deal (UK) schemes. 

There are at least a dozen semiconductor manufacturers making the popular 384x series controllers. All of them behave slightly differently. The same applies to any other semiconductor device made by several vendors. Be cautious of so-called equivalents. So if your company s smart-alecky purchase officer has just cooked up a new deal to procure your 1N5408 diodes at half price (from some hitherto unknown manufacturer on the Mainland, for example), replace it and confirm that it is not causing the problem. 

To stay competitive, businesses must continually provide new products and services thus, business operations must change in concert. Banks, for example, often introduce new deals to lure customers away from the competition today, they offer more new services via the phone and the Internet than through branch offices. Flexible software, which changes with the business, is essential to competitiveness.

The literature on regulation is very extensive. New Deal activism in the areas of monopoly and antitrust and the explosion of health, safety, and environmental regulations during the 1965-1975 period led to increased scrutiny by academics and policy research organizations. I do not review this literature here because many competent reviews already exist. Instead, I examine only the role that com-mand-and-control bureaucracies can play in the acquisition of information, the use of that information to set conduct standards, and the alleged superiority of bureaucracies (relative to courts or markets) in doing both.
