Neurotropic properties

Neurotropic and antistress properties of 2,4-dimethylpyrido[l, 2-u]pyr-imidinium perchlorate were compared with those of piracetam (95MI7). AH-Pyrido[l,2-u]pyrimidin-4-one binds selectively to rat A3 receptors with a A", value of 48/xM. No affinities were observed to rat Ai and A2 receptors (96MI17). 4-Oxo-4//-pyrido[l,2-u]pyrimidine-3-carboxylic acid and -3-carbonitrile did not exhibit significant antibacterial activities (97MI6). 

Interesting pharmacological properties were discovered in 3-hydroxyquinuclidine esters (156), which can be considered as bicyclic analogs of the 2-dialkylaminoethyl esters (157). The neurotropic activity of these esters with various carboxylic acids is well known. Investigations of Sternbach, Kaiser, and co-workers 103,140 148,184... 

Test requirements depend on microorganism and strain specific properties, e.g. neurotropism, abortigenic and other potential pathological effects.
