Neuralgia, remedies

Antirheumatic. Elder flower and vinegar fomentations can be used topically for painful joints, muscle soreness and stiffness. Elderberry juice is an ancient remedy to help neuralgia, rheumatism, gout and sciatica. Parts used flowers, berries, leaves. 

In 1898, King s American Dispensatory called Cannabis indica one of the most important of our remedies, particularly for marked nervous depression.. .. [I]t has been efficient in delirium tremens, wakefulness in fevers, neuralgia, gout, rheumatism, infantile... 

In North America, extracts of local hemp were used [36-40]. Most of the work reported was based on the British experience. Attacks of neuralgia, including trigeminal neuralgia, were successfully treated. It was considered a valuable remedy in the treatment of persistent headaches, in spasmodic asthma and as an oxytocic. The antivomiting effect was recorded again, as was the general hypnotic effect. 

Btemedy for Neuralgia. A remedy said to bo cmcocious consists m applying braised horse-radish to the wrist on the side of tho l>ody where the pain is. 

L. Hervoua Headache may bo relieve by using one of the evaporating lotions. (Sec No, 4843.) An application of tbo Good Samaritan " is also very effectual. (Sec No, 4858.) Any of tho remedies under tho bead of neuralgia are also recommended for severe attacks. (See Nos, 5544, c.)... 

Traditional Medicine. Used in Africa and since the early 20th century in Europe for indigestion (bitter tonic), blood diseases, headache, allergies, rheumatism, arthritis, lumbago, neuralgia also as febrifuge, purgative externally for sores, ulcer, boils, and skin lesions folk cancer remedy.
