Near-field pattern

A transmitted near-held pattern (NFP) measurement method is applied for measuring the mode held characteristics, which correspond to the radial optical held distribution across the core [12,13]. NFP measurement is typically used to determine the hber parameters, for example, the mode held diameter, core and cladding 

The previous section mentioned two GI POFs, one with almost the optimum RIP and the other with a nonideal RIP and low NA, all modes of which had almost the same delay times. DMD measurements alone cannot determine whether

River discharges into the Baltic are the main contribution to its freshwater surplus. Thus, the dynamics of the river plumes and their mixing into the ambient brackish water plays an important role for the water mass formation in the Baltic Sea. The buoyant plumes are characterized by the near-field pattern, which evolves in the vicinity of the river outlet, and the fai -field pattern, which reflects the propagation of the river water along the coast. 

The fundamentalpattern and resolution characteristics ofantennas are summarized in Fig. 17.3. Antenna response and performance is generally characterized by its far-field pattern, which is independent of range (REF). The antenna near-field pattern is a function of range and is equivalent to the Fresnel region...
