Natural rubber structure immiscible blends

The Tg of NR and EVA were found to occur around 6 °C and —10 °C, respectively. When crosslinked, the Tg of NR was found to increase to —40 °C, while that of EVA remained unchanged. The incompatible nature of the blend was revealed by the presence of individual component tan 8 peaks in the blends. Good agreement of 30/70 NR/EVA blend was supported by SEM studies. For 50/50 composition, co-continuous morphology for the blend is observed. For 70/30 NR/EVA rubber blend, the deviations were explained on the basis of larger domains of EVA particles dispersed in the NR matrix. Investigation of Tg and peak temperature from DSC measurements suggested the immiscible two-phase structure of the blends. [Pg.38]
