Natural compounds thiosugars

From the distinctly reduced mutarotation exhibited by 5-thioaldoses when compared with their oxygenated parent compounds it was concluded that a hemiacetal ring containing sulfur is more stable [ 1 -3]. On the other hand, it was discovered that glycosides of such thiosugars are more prone to hydrolysis than their natural counterparts [4].
