National Business Incubator Association

The National Business Incubator Association estimates that there are fewer than 4000 business incubators worldwide, which means that today China has perhaps 15% of the total. Obviously, China has offered fertile ground for business incubators, and one will find nearly every variety imaginable - general, technology-specific, rmiversity-related, internal state-enterprise, international, etc. [Pg.93]

The author was honored to be a small part of the founding of the ground breaking National Business Incubator Association (NBIA) in the mid 1980s, in support of Dr. Randall Whaley who became the NBIA founding Chairman. Dr. Whaley was CEO of the University City Science Center (UCSC) in Philadelphia. UCSC was the first urban research park in America and, many say, the first business incubator. Hence Dr. Whaley s invitation to be the founding chair. The NPC has traditionally been a rubber stamp for the State Council and the Party, but in recent years has been gaining more and more respect and real power. [Pg.160]
