Narration script

When it comes time to record narration, your narration pieces are generally numbered and then isolated into a script of their own—a narration script—which is often a single-column, double-spaced document, with very wide margins to the left and right for ease of reading. Don t put the narration in all capitals, because this makes it more difficult to read. 

The narrator may be onscreen, like the grandmother in Lisa Shapiro s Another Story (the script is reprinted in Appendix B). Or the narrator may be offscreen, a guide or interpreter for the story. The actual dramatic needs of the story will determine whether the narration will be interior or exterior. 

If the drama is presented as reportage rather than fiction, the audience will develop a different relationship with the dramatic material. This is not always a relationship of respect the journalistic narration can also undermine the credibility of the drama, or supersede it with a new reality. In either case, the exterior narration introduces another voice into the drama. If that voice is purposeful, it can strengthen the dramatic impact of the script. 

Now that we have discussed narration, we need to note that the visual and dramatic dimensions of the script may become crowded. It is worth considering... 

This training program consists of a set of slides and a script and/or a taped narration on a cassette. The program can be presented to the employees with the instructor advancing the slides and either reading the copy or playing the taped narration. 

Script and narrate a film that involves a family reenacting their search in local shelters for a dog to bring into their home, and then film the process by which experts can rebuild trust and calm aggression in dogs that have been abused or... 

Some editors work from a written outline of scenes and sequences, especially if the film consists primarily of live action, such as cinema verite. If there is a significant amount of interview material, whether or not there is to be narration, the producer may also take transcripts of the interviews and cut and paste selected bites into a "paper edit." If the project was shot to a script or a script-in-progress, that working script will be adjusted to reflect the actual material on hand. In either case, rough narration can be written to seam together disparate elements, make a transition clear, or hold a place for a sequence that s still to be shot. In many editing rooms, "scratch" narration is recorded and cut in against the picture, to better evaluate its effectiveness. 

The biggest pitfall is understanding what their film s about right from the beginning. Before they sit down to write a page of the narration or script, what s the theme And then on the theme, what s the story that the/re going to convey to get across the theme ...
