C) A new solution was mixed with 0.10 mol of formic acid, HCHO, and 0.15 mol of sodium formate, NaCHO, dissolved in enough water to make 1.00 liter of solution. What is the pH of the resulting solution ... [Pg.349]

The hyperlipidemia is greatly enhanced if fat is ingested with ethanol. Thus, "happy hour" foods (e.g., pizza, fried potato skins with sour cream, nachos, and deep-fried peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon) are exactly the wrong things to eat while drinking. Steamed vegetables or salads with your beer would be much better for your liver. [Pg.464]

Imidazol, 50 g, is dissolved in 320 ml of dry acetone and cooled to 0°. Thiophosgene, 14.5 ml, is added dropwise at such a rate that the temperature does not rise above 20°. After 90 min at room temperature imidazol hydrochloride is filtered and washed with 50 ml of acetone. Dried (III), 38 g is added to the combinded filtrates and heated under reflux for 3 hr (drying tube on reflux condenser). Acetone is removed under reduced pressure and the residue is dissolved in 400 ml of ethyl acetate. The solution is washed twice with 250 ml of 3 A HCl and once with 100 ml of 10% NaCHOs and concentrated to a syrup. The residue is crystallized from 350 ml of methanol. Yield, 32 g m.p., 165°-170°. [Pg.373]

Alkali Metals. AlkaK metals appai ently show little tendency to react mth anhydrous formaldehyde. Elemental sodium does not act upon liquid formaldehyde at its boiling point . However, according to Foel-sin hydrogen is liberated when sodium is heated Avith gaseous fomialde-hyde and a sodium derivative, possibly NaCHO, is produced. [Pg.117]
