N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazyl

Applications Identification of polymer additives by TLC-IR is labour intensive and comprises extraction, concentration of extracts, component separation by TLC on silica, drying, removal of spots, preparation of KBr pellets and IR analysis. The method was illustrated with natural rubber formulations, where N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazyl sulfenamide, IPPD and 6PPD antioxidants, and a naphthenic plasticiser were readily quantified [765]. An overview of polymer/additive type compounds analysed by transfer TLC-FTIR is given in Table 7.80. [Pg.534]

Thiazoles are derivatives of benzothiazole compounded with sulfenamides. The benzothiazoles include 2-MBT, dibenzothiazyl disulfide (MBTS) and the zinc salt of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (ZMBT). The sulfenamides are principally N-tert-butyl-2-benzothiazyl sulfenamide (TBBS), N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazyl sul-fenamide (CBS) and morpholinylmercaptobenzo-thiazole (MOR). MBT, MBTS and CBS are the more widely used. Because of their strong capacity to sensitize, thiazoles are less frequently used in gloves than are the thiurams. Nonetheless, they are widely used in the rubber industry, as well as others (Table 7). Indeed, MBT remains the most widely used accelerator for industrial rubber (Feinman 1987). Nonetheless, sensiti-... [Pg.704]

The results are reported of a study of the effects of fillers and vulcanising agents on the physicomechanical and dielectric properties of EPDM. Fillers employed were kaolin, quartz, PVC and talc and the vulcanising agents were TMTD and sulphur/N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazyl sulphenamide. The permittivity and dielectric loss versus temperature for the vulcanisates are illustrated and the effects of thermal ageing on the physicochemical properties of the vulcanisates are discussed. 25 refs.
