Aspirin musculoskeletal disorders

The sahcylates are useful in the treatment of minor musculoskeletal disorders such as bursitis, synovitis, tendinitis, myositis, and myalgia. They may also be used to relieve fever and headache. They can be used in the treatment of inflammatory disease, such as acute rheumatic fever, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and certain rheumatoid variants, such as ankylosing spondylitis, Reiter s syndrome, and psoriatic arthritis. However, other NS AIDS are usually favored for the treatment of these chronic conditions because of their lower incidence of GI side effects. Aspirin is used in the treatment and prophylaxis of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke. 

Benoral benorylate. benorilate benorylate. benorylate [ban] (benorilate [inn] paracetamol acetylsallcylate BenoraP ) is an aspirin-paracetamol ester, and these two pharmacologically active constituents are released systemically at different rates. It has cyclooxygenase inhibitor, nsaid analgesic, antiinflammatory and antirheumatic activity. It is used orally, particularly to treat the pain of rheumatic disease and other musculoskeletal disorders, as well as to treat fever, benoxaprofen [ban, inn, usan] (Opren ) is one of the propionic acid series of CYCLOOXYGENASE INHIBITORS with nsaid ANALGESIC. ANTIINFLAMMATORY and ANTIPYRETIC activity also effective for psoriasis. It was withdrawn due to adverse drug reactions. 

For muscle spasms and other painful musculoskeletal disorders. Available in compound form with aspirin and aspirin with codeine. 

Orphenadrine citrate/aspirin/caffeine is a skeletal muscle relaxant. Orphenadrine s action may be related to its analgesic properties. Aspirin inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, resulting in analgesia, antiinflammatory activity, and inhibition of platelet aggregation. Caffeine is thought to produce constriction of cerebral blood vessels. It is indicated in symptomatic relief of mild to moderate pain of acute musculoskeletal disorders and as an adjunct to rest, physical therapy, and other measures for the relief of discomfort with acute painful musculoskeletal conditions. 

It has antipyretie, analgesic and anti-inflammatory actions, ft is employed in the treatment of rheumatic and other musculoskeletal disorders. The drug is, however, comparable to indomethacin and aspirin in the control and management of disease aetivity. 

Clinical use Acetylsalicylic acid is the prototype of a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug and is used in a large number of inflammatory and pain indications including musculoskeletal, soft tissue and joint disorders, headache, dysmenorrhoea and fever (Symposium on new perspectives on aspirin therapy 1983, various authors). Furthermore, acetylsalicylic acid is used as an antiplatelet drug in the acute treatment of myocardial infarction in combination with thrombolytics and for the prevention of myocardial infarction and stroke (Patrono, 1994). 

Aspirin and other NSAIDs are effective in treating mild-to-moderate pain of various origins, including headache, toothache, and diffuse muscular aches and soreness. Aspirin appears to be especially useful in treating pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal and joint disorders.71,87,89 The safe and effective use of aspirin in both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis is well documented (see Chapter 16).53,66,84 Aspirin is also recommended for treating the pain and cramping associated with primary dysmenorrhea.70...
