Multivitamin syrups and energy drinks are diluted with an appropriate aqueous-alcoholic mixture (80% ethanol), and the resulting solution is applied to plates for the determination of taurine and lysine. [Pg.57]

Simultaneous determination of some water-soluble vitamins and preservatives in multivitamin syrup by validated stability-indicating high-performance liquid chromatography method. The formulator of liquid multivitamin pharmaceutical products such as baby drops, syrups, elixirs, and injectables encounters numerous problems in attempting to develop products having adequate physical and chemical stability as well as suitable taste, odor, color, and freedom from bacterial contamination. Many of these problems arise from the diflFering solubility and stability characteristics of the individual vitamins, particularly as these relate to the pH of the solutions and potential interactions. Despite these numerous problems, various ways have been devised for producing multivitamin combinations in liquid form containing L-ascorbic acid that have acceptable stability characteristics. Successful development of such products requires a knowledge of (i) the fundamental aspects of the physical and chemical properties of the vitamin forms available (ii) the use of adequate techniques of manufacture and (iii) the employment of suitable overages based on critical stability studies. [Pg.423]

Other important uses of sorbitol as a humectant include formulation of cough syrups, multivitamin preparations, emulsions and suspensions. Because of its humectancy properties, sorbitol reduces the tendency of liquid formulations to crystallize. [Pg.248]

Around 100 tonnes of biotin are manufactured annually. [126] Animal feed accounts for the largest proportion of the market, followed by food-supplements (multivitamin tablets, dragees, capsules or syrup), and pharmaceutical preparations (5-10 %). A small fraction is used for biochemical and analytical purposes... [Pg.671]
