Multicomponent mixtures parallel reactions

The first of the two situation above is occasionally encountered in petroleum processing, where multicomponent mixtures of reactants are common. The second may arise in reactions with coupled parallel steps [14] (see Section 5.3). [Pg.384]

Astarita, G., and Ocone, R., Lumping parallel reactions. In Kinetic and Thermodynamic Lumping of Multicomponent Mixtures (G. Astarita and R. I. Sandler, eds.). Elsevier, Amsterdam, 1991,... [Pg.71]

All possible multicomponent reactions were carried out by the combinatorial variation of between two and ten starting materials (2-CR to 10-CR) in parallel in methanol at room temperature and using a robotic dispensing system. With the aid of automated liquid chromatography and data evaluation, products were searched that are unique to a specific mixtures by comparing the retention times with the starting materials and over all other mixtures that contain the respective sub-combinations. Thus, for example, a novel product of a four-component reaction should not be contained in all three possible 3-CR mixtures. [Pg.303]

In the literature, few examples exist for combinatorial synthesis in solution [68], with most being one- or two-step parallel synthesis of individual compounds or reagent-mixture synthesis of compound mixtures. Pools of dimeric compounds including esters, amides and carbamates have been successfully prepared without needing further purification. One example of a reaction which is particularly applicable to combinatorial synthesis in solution is a multicomponent reaction, such as the Ugi four-component reaction, as it can produce four points of diversity in a single step [69-71],... [Pg.13]
