Insufficient study of the design related to the mould can lead to bottle distortion while it is still at the red heat stage. This aspect must be considered a function of the glass manufacturer and the mould maker. [Pg.157]

Mould makers prepare moulds for the manufacturing of ware with plaster of Paris. Releasing oils are used to facilitate the extraction of the plaster of Paris moulds from the rubber cases. Irritant contact dermatitis is common because of the prolonged contact with water. Allergic contact dermatitis from additives in the releasing agents has been reported (Roberts et al. 1981 Wilkinson et al. 1990). [Pg.878]

Mould design was carried out by Cabinet Industries Ltd in collaboration with the mould maker Hermitage Engineering of Mansfield, Nottingham. [Pg.108]

Size. A solution used to treat the surface of pottery ware or of plaster moulds. Mould-makers size is commonly a solution of soft soap. Decorators size is traditionally based on boiled linseed oil after its application, and after it has become tacky, the lithograph is applied and brushed down. [Pg.293]

Under this heading of manipulation is included any process whereby the solid plastics material, usually in powder or nib form, is converted to the finished end product. It embraces moulding by compression, transfer, injection or extrusion, blow moulding, rotational moulding, and any process whereby a layer of comminuted plastics material is heat-sintered into a finished unit. In all of them the product designer has to work very closely with the manufacturer not only of the plastics material, but also with the mould maker and to an ever-increasing extent with the maker of the moulding machine. [Pg.59]

US sets, containing brominated flame retardants, produced fewer emissions to the enviromnent. US makers must produce sets to meet the V-0 standard of the UL94 fire test but, iu Emope, the moulded plastic euclosure of a TV set needs only to pass a Horizontal Bum (HB) test. The US manufacturers use the brominated flame retardant decaBDE to meet their specification, but in Europe manufacturers have removed all flame retardants from their enclosures. [Pg.103]

A consortium of four companies was involved in the development of the steel and plastic (SP) cab Scott Bader of Wollaston, suppliers of the SMC moulding material J, J. Harvey of Manchester, tool designers and makers Bifort Engineering of Blackpool, moulders of the SMC panels. [Pg.173]

Making LSR moulds requires expert know-how. It is recommended that only mould designers and makers who already have experience in this technique are used. In view of the high mould temperatures you need insulating platens with a thickness of 10 mm for the mould. [Pg.128]
