Moor filters

The vertical cylindrical vessel of the pressure version of the Moore filter developed in France for the sugar industry, which houses a set of radially arranged leaves, is twice the height of the leaves. This allows the leaves to be raised, rotated, and lowered into the different compartments in the bottom half of the vessel. Positive air pressure must be maintained throughout the operation to prevent cake faH-off, and the cake is blown off the leaves by air blowback. [Pg.401]

Hydrated Ti02 separation. The precipitated hydrated Ti02 is separated by vacuum filters (called "Moore filters ) from the mother liquor (commonly referred to as strong acid, 20%-25% H2SO4). This mother liquor is not considered as a waste of the process, being treated for the generation of two co-products with established markets, as will be detailed later. [Pg.71]

Several studies have examined the partitioning of U on particles and colloids. Results from detailed sampling and particle separation in the Amazon estuary shows that most of the uranium at the Amazon River mouth is associated with particles (>0.4 im) and that >90% of the uranium in filtered water (<0.4 im) is transported in a colloidal phases (from a nominal molecular weight of 10 000 MW up to 0.4 im) (Swarzenski et al. 1995 Moore et al. 1996). Mixing diagrams for uranium in different size fractions in the Amazon estuary reveal that uranium in all size fractions clearly display both removal and substantial input during mixing. [Pg.587]

Equations (8.11) and (8.12) are approximate expressions for propagating the estimate and the error covariance, and in the literature they are referred to as the extended Kalman filter (EKF) propagation equations (Jaswinski, 1970). Other methods for dealing with the same problem are discussed in Gelb (1974) and Anderson and Moore (1979). [Pg.158]

Apparently, the first such experiment was done by Moore, Wulf, and Badger,318 who used the cadmium source with a NaCl filter to remove wavelengths below 2050 A. They monitored N203, which is an end product of the reaction, and is formed by the addition of NO to the product NOa. Recently, Basco, Callear, and Norrish22 reported that no product formation occurs when only the ground vibrational level of A2H + exists. If their observation is correct, then all the decomposition must come from the first vibrational level. It is difficult to believe that this relatively small amount of additional energy could have such a profound effect. [Pg.182]

There is a constant move toward the improvement of instrumentation technology. This ranges from new detector and source technologies, to new ways to make IR measurements and new ways to fabricate instruments. In the area of components, there are new MEMS-based sources, which operate at low power and provide extended source lifetimes, new tunable laser devices, new tunable filter devices, both broad and narrow range, and new detector arrays. Many of these devices are currently relatively high cost. However, most are made from scalable technologies, such as semiconductor fabrication technologies, and as such if the demand increases the cost can come down. Many can follow Moore s law of... [Pg.112]

Moore [Moore, 1977b] studied the effect of oscillator implementation using lookup tables and found that linear interpolation produces the least distortion and that truncation produces the worst. This result was confirmed by Hartmann [Hartmann, 1987], Another possibility is to use a recursive (HR) filter with poles located on the unit circle. This coupled form [Tierney et al., 1971] offers a alternate method that avoids using memoiy space. Frequency resolution requirements were calculated by Snell in a superpipeline oscillator design for dynamic Fourier synthesis [Snell, 1977]. [Pg.120]
