MOLECULAR MODEL SET EXERCISES

The following molecular model set exercises were originally developed by Ronald Staricey. Refer to the instruction booklet that accompanies your model set for details of molecular... [Pg.682]

Commercial molecular model kits vary in style, size, material composition, and the color of the components. The set which works best in this exercise is the Molecular Model Set for Organic Chemistry available from Allyn and Bacon, Inc. (Newton, MA). Wood ball and stick models work as well. For 25 students, 25 of these sets should be provided. If you wish to make up your own kit, you would need the following for 25 students ... [Pg.551]

Summary tables of reactions by mechanistic type and functional group A review quiz for each chapter A set of hands-on molecular model exercises... [Pg.1220]

Use moiecuiar modeis when you study. Because of the three-dimensional nature of most organic molecules, molecular models can be an invaluable aid to your understanding of them. When you need to see the three-dimensional aspect of a particular topic, use the Molecular Visions model set that may have been packaged with your textbook, or buy a set of models separately. An appendix to the Study Guide that accompanies this text provides a set of highly usefid molecular model exercises. [Pg.1226]

Note that benzene can be represented in several different ways with most molecularmodel sets. In this exercise, the Kekule representation with alternating double and single bonds is appropriate. Alternative representations of benzene, such as a form depicting molecular orbital lobes, are shown in your model set instruction booklet. [Pg.689]
