Moisture bulk solid flow

There are instances where a qualitative test for comparative or quality control (QC) purposes may be desired and the quantitative test methods used for equipment design or analysis purposes described in the preceding sections are not essential for the flow concerns being assessed. These non-scalable, qualitative tests may be used to measure cenain attributes/characteristics of the bulk solid within a pre-defined range. These attributes may include chemical composition, particle size, color, moisture, and often, flow properties. [Pg.106]

The unit weight of the bulk solid indication of flow use for feeder and hopper sizing compressibility determination possible compressive strength. Usually decreases with increasing moisture content. [Pg.1027]

The two key parameters in this equation, flow function and angle of internal friction, can be strongly affected by the bulk solid s temperature, time of storage at rest, moisture content and particle size distribution. [Pg.76]

Figures 7.22 and l.Ti show that over the mean size range 10-80 p,m, larger particles can be expected to significantly increase the thickness and bulk volume of the cake and thus the solids throughput. With a thicker cake more effective washing is achieved at higher wash Uquor flows (fractional recovery increases from 0.956 to 1), larger air volumes are consumed due to reduced resistance and a marginally lower cake moisture at discharge is observed (42.9% compared to 41.9%).
