The moderate intrinsic reactivity of zinc organometallics can be increased by transmetallation with various transition metal salts. Especially useful is the trans-metallation of diorganozincs or organozinc halides with the THF-soluble complex of copper(I) cyanide and lithium chloride (CuCN -ZLiCl) [lOj.
