Mind reading task

The four groups of subjects were administered different treatments according to a 2x2-factorial design type of presentation x instruction). They obtained the text either as hypertext or as simultaneous text presentation and they received either the instruction to read the text with the objective in mind to later present the topics separately in written form (i.e., object-oriented instruction) or the instruction to read the text on the background of the task, to later present the topics in written form and to compare them with each other (i.e., aspect-oriented instruction). The subjects could read the text without time limitation. 

This family of tests has been adapted for, and then frequently used in, marketing research. We can cite for instance the word association task in which the subjects are asked to read a list of words and to indicate the first word that comes to mind. Each factor is broken down into measurable criteria (sub-factors). A criterion is directly measurable via at least one specific metric.
