Yet, for a venture to become a multi-million or multi-billion enterprise, management systems and processes need to be reliable, standards need to be adopted and adhered to, and consistency and predictability become important. The challenge for middle managers bears some similarity to that of those tasked with integrating an acquired company with a different culture than one s own. Yet, just as with integrating acquisitions, such a crucial process is often not handled very systematically.
