Microscopic causality

The failure of Pure Mechanism on account of the existence of irreducibly macroscopic qualities need not bear directly on the completeness of physics. It may be possible, after all, that the mechanistic laws governing the interactions of microscopic particles are causally complete, and the macroscopic qualities consequently causally inert with respect to the behavior of systems of microscopic particles. Broad seems to have been aware of this possibility, for given the assumption that sensible objects really do have the irreducibly different sensible qualities they appear to have,7... 

Unfortunately, some of the observations and interpretations presented in Chapter 7 ("Microscopical Interpretation of Clinkers") do not appear to be founded in systematic experimental design or statistical analysis. Statistical measures to determine the degrees of correlation and association of the observations, and their relationship to the various physical and chemical causal factors of the production process, are essential and urgently needed for several very important reasons ... 

The physical reality shows that systems, even at microscopic level, are not isolated, but subjects of various perturbations. While temporal perturbations were treated within causal motion by the preceding postulate, the stationary ones are the subject of the present discourse ... 

Gastrointestinal Of 8 patients with microscopic colitis, either lymphocytic (n = 7) or collagenous ( = 1), during treatment with lansoprazole, most were women and all were older than 60 years [57 ]. None had a history of neoplastic disorders and all were negative for celiac disease antibodies. In most cases, the symptoms started within a few weeks (median 22, range 5-180 days). In all cases, both chronological and causality likelihood scores supported a causative role of lansoprazole. In particular, withdrawal of lansoprazole and substitution of other proton pump inhibitors was followed by resolution of the bowel disorder (median 7, range 4-15 days), without need for further treatment. All were followed up for at least 4 months without symptom recurrence.
