Triclocarban, hexamidine, dibromohexamidine, dibromopropamidine, chlorhexidine, ben-zalkoninm chloride, methenamine, Quatemium-15, sodium pyritione, cetylpiridinium chloride, 3-chloro-A-methyl propionamide and dichloro-A-methyl acetamide are just a few examples of this numerous group of preservatives.

Protein synthesis was inhibited at the initiation stage in an in vitro translation system.It was subsequently reported that MDMP interfered with the attachment of ribosomes to messenger RNA.
