A suspension of the Step 7 product (0.0135 mol) in 60 ml toluene was treated with the dropwise addition of 4-methoxyphenyl isothiocyanate (13.5 mmol) and the mixture stirred 3 hours at ambient temperature. A white precipitate that formed was removed by filtration and washed with toluene and diethyl ether. The solid was recrystallized from acetone and the product isolated in 79% yield as a white solid, mp = 184-187°C. [Pg.407]
