Methane tellurolate

The procedure is based on the reaction of lithinm ethynyltellurolates (generated by the successive treatment of acetylenes with n-BuLi and elemental tellnrinm) with iodochloromethane giving ethynylchloromethyl tellurides. Subseqnent reaction with lithinm tellnride forms lithinm(ethynyltelluro) methane tellurolates which cycUze via an intramolecnlar addition of the tellnrolate to the ethynyltelluro moiety. ... 

Sodium benzenetellurolate is arylated in liquid ammonia via photoinduced reactions with aryl halides3,4. Aryl iodides reacted with sodium benzenetellurolate in the presence of copper(I) iodide in hexamethylphosphoric triamide (but not in DMF or DMSO) to produce aryl phenyl tellurium compounds5- However, lithium benzenetellurate reacted with 1,2-bromoiodobenzene and lithium methane tellurolate with 1,2-dibromobenzene in tetrahydrofuran at 20° to yield l,2-bis[organotelluro]benzenes6. 

Tellurols, derivatives of dihydrogen telluride, have received little attention. Only methane-, ethane-, propane-, and butane tellur ol have been isolated from reactions of aluminum telluride with alcohols at 300° or from additions of alkyl bromides to a solution of dihydrogen telluride in absolute ethanol containing sodium ethoxide (s. Vol. IX, 970). No arenetellurol has yet been isolated.

The bis[triphenylphosphoranylidene]ammonium salt of the anionic hydridoundecacar-bonyltriosmate cluster reacted with bis[4-methoxyphenyl] tellurium dichloridc in dichloro-methane to form in 7 percent yield a neutral triosmium cluster with one bridging 4-methoxybenzene tellurolate group2. 

Tellurolates can be easily alkylated and, under suitable conditions, arylated to produce symmetrical and unsymmetrical diorgano tellurium (p. 387) and alkyl aryl tellurium (p.409) compounds. Examples of alkylating agents are primary n-alkyl bromides and iodides, secondary alkyl bromides, dimethyl sulfate, allyl bromides chlorodifluoro-methane , dichloroiodomethane , methyl m-bromoalkanoates 3-halopropanoic...
