Metaphosphates tetra

Dimetaphosphates of copper, manganese, cobalt and zinc are said to be formed when an oxide or nitrate of these metals is heated with an excess of phosphoric acid between 316° and 400° C.2 The zinc salt had the formula ZnP208.4H20, and when treated with alkali sulphides gave the alkali salts K2P206.2H20, etc. Other authorities, however, have adduced reason for supposing that these salts are tri- or tetra-metaphosphates.4... [Pg.178]

Theoretical cluster model MO calculations were used for the interpretation of these spectra. The DV-Xa method combined with realistic cluster approach (in which the model clusters were set up using available crystal structure information from diffraction experiments) proved to be a powerful tool to interpret the structural changes in the valence band spectrum due to the changes in the superstructure of the consisting PO4 tetrahedra. We found noticeable differences in the calculated spectra when the cluster geometry was changed, especially in the case of the hydrous and anhydrous pyrophosphate and similarly for the ring and spiral forms of the tetra-metaphosphate. [Pg.229]

With a further increase of the P/Si ratio the diphosphate decreases and triphosphate increases. These facts indicate that trisodium orthophosphate produced according to reaction 1 reacts further with an excess of sodium metaphosphate to form di- and triphosphate. Small amounts of chain phosphates longer than triphosphate were found in the aqueous solutions of the samples with P/Si ratios of 3.00 and 4.00. Since anhydrous crystals of chain phosphates such as hexasodium tetra-phosphate and heptasodium pentaphosphate have not been obtained so far, it is reasonable to suppose that the chain phosphates longer than tri-... [Pg.201]

The sodium phosphates, polyphosphates, and metaphosphates, the preparation of which is described in this volume (see syntheses 24 to 26), represent a diversified group of compounds their relationships are most easily elucidated by a consideration of their structures. The structural unit that characterizes all phosphates is the PO4 tetrahedron, the phosphorus atom being surrounded tetra-... [Pg.85]
