The image forces are those induced by the appearance of the fictitious charge on the metal (image charge) created by the ion s charge. Similarly to the adsorbed water molecules (Section 6.7.2), ions also experience dispersion forces due to the induction of instantaneous fluctuations in the electron density clouds of continuous atoms—the adsorbed ion and the metal atom. Both these forces are of attractive character and were discussed in Section 6.7.2. [Pg.204]

Several other simple photochemistries can be used to produce images. Photooxidation of leuco dyes can be used to form colored images. Photoreduction processes, e.g., of metal ions to produce metallic image regions, can also be used. These photochemistries will be described also. [Pg.203]

Several methods of metallic image generation with the use of inkjet technology have been described (28). [Pg.135]

Metal images in the leaves, shoots and roots of plant tissues (fixed onto glass slides) were produced by LA-ICP-MS (ICP-QMS Elan 6100 from Perkin Elmer/Sciex and Cetac LSX 200) in the author s laboratory (61). Thin sections (30 and 40 xm) of tobacco Nicotiana tobaccum) plant tissues were analyzed by LA-ICP-QMS with respect to Mg, Mn, Fe, Cu and Zn together with the laboratory standards under the same experimental... [Pg.75]
