Metallurgical effects, review

Within the space of a sin e chapter it is obviously not possible to do full justice to the literature referred to above. Instead, a brief review based on a representative collection of papers is presented in which the emphasis is placed on the meinner in which physical-property measurements may be used as indicators of (1) microscopic and macroscopic metallurgical states of titanium alloys, and (2) phase transformations and precipitation effects which take place in response to heat treatment. In other words, this chapter will take the form of a survey of physical-property measurements as they apply to metallurgical-property diagnosis.
