On account of their particularly extensive delocalized 7r-systems, MPs have received comparatively more attention for their cubic, as opposed to quadratic, NLO properties. From the viewpoint of practical applications, such complexes (and also metallophthalocyanines and other closely related compounds) are of major interest for OL due to their tendency to exhibit RSA behavior. These materials are particularly well suited in this regard because they often exhibit strongly absorbing, long-lived triplet excited states as well as reasonably wide transparency windows over the visible region of interest between the intense B- and Q-bands. [Pg.639]

The connection technique of molecules is important for the preparation of covalently bonded 2D arrays. As described in the previous section, the direct synthesis of metallophthalocyanine and metalloporphyrin can be achieved by the deposition... [Pg.154]

Quite a different situation occurs in the metallophthalocyanine and porphyrin complexes of l2 Here PVP is an active participant. The resistivity in the solid state is depressed at the molar ratios 1 1 1 1 1 1 (see Table II) by an order of magnitude in the cases of FePHTH and MgMTBP. The latter complex shows a dramatic further drop in activation energy. This effect is thought to be due to a ternary interaction, rather than an interaction between the PVP l2 (1 1) complex and the 1 1 metallo-organic I complex as shown by the increase in resistivity of MgMTBP I2 PVP = 1 2 1. [Pg.59]

Metallophthalocyanines and -naphthalocyanines have be used recently for the preparation of materials, which exhibit interesting semiconducting and nonlinear optical properties (1).
