Meetings follow

The review meeting follows a structured format. The complete process to be studied is divided into discrete nodes. For each node, every parameter or guideword deviation is considered. For each deviation, causes are identified. For each cause, consequences are identified. For each consequence, existing protection is identified. After considering existing protection, recommendation for action are made if the remaining level of risk is consider unacceptable. Clarifying remarks are included as appropriate.

Admission to the SCP was made upon request of the candidate on a special form, subscribed by two permanent members. The election should take place in the first meeting following candidacy and was successful if there was a majority of votes. Permanent members paid an aimual fee amounting to 5000 reis (then the Portuguese currency) and both the correspondents and associates should pay 2500 reis. All members were entitled to receive the society s journal, attend meetings, submit papers and participate in scientific discussions.
