Mechanisms of Oxygen Movement in Wetland Plants

Oxygen entry into the plant varies with plant species. For many wetland plants, oxygen entry into the plant occurs through 

Stomata (herbaceous plants) Lenticels (woody species) 

Transport of oxygen within the plant requires continuity of the intercellular airspaces to create a flow path with low resistance. Two major pathways are recognized for O2 transport into and within the plant. These are
