However, Dalton et a/. demonstrated, in 2003, that the properties could be markedly improved by leaving the polymer in the fibre. This resulted in large increases in the Young s modulus and strength to 80 GPa andl.8 GPa 

Fibres made from SWNTs and PVA have also been spun using DNA as a dispersant. These materials demonstrated moduli in the range 12-18 GPa and strengths of 90-110 MPa.
