In this test, a rectangular strip sample is formed around a die with a precisely machined edge of a known radius. The sample is formed by 90° or 180° about an axis in the plane of the sheet. The outer surface of the bend is inspected for cracking or unacceptably deep surface mmpling for the particular appHcation. The minimum bending radius (MBR) about which strip can be successfully formed depends on the strip thickness, t, and is reported with the test thickness specified or normali2ed with regard to thickness as MBR/1. Better formabiHty is indicated by smaller MBR/1 values. [Pg.222]

The minimum radius over which ahoy strip can be formed in bending without failure, normalised by thickness (MBR/1) for ahoys C510 and C725 as affected by increasing strength (temper) where (—) represents orientation of bending relative to the rolling direction of strip, ie, goodway (longitudinal),... MF < MC1 < MBr < MI . By contrast for less-ionic halides with significant non-coulombic lattice forces (e.g. Ag) solubility in water follows the reverse sequence MI < MBr < MC1 < MF . For molecular halides solubility is determined principally by weak intermolecular van der Waals and dipolar forces, and dissolution is commonly favoured by less-polar solvents such as benzene, CCI4 or CS2. [Pg.824]

MFg] , capped trigonal prismatic [MFv], and even square-antiprismatic [MFg] salts can all be isolated. By contrast with the fluorides, aqueous solutions of MCI5 and MBrs (M = Mb, Ta) yield only oxochloro- and oxobromo-complexes, though the application of non-aqueous procedures allows their use as starting materials. [Pg.994]

Crystalline films of NbBj and TaB2 are deposited on Ta and Nb substrates, respectively, according to the dissociation reaction (g) when the process is carried out at a reduced pressure, a temperature of 1100°C for NbB2 and 1150°C for TaB2 and with source gases containing MBr, and BBr, in a stoichiometric ratio " . At temperatures below 1000°C only a metal deposit is obtained, whereas at 1000-1100°C deposition of metals, lower borides and MB, occurs . ... [Pg.278]
