Maximum allowable nozzle loads

The allowable loads and moments hsted in Table 7-14 do not represent any actual loading or a real maximum allowable load or moment. Rather they are arbitrary maximum allowable nozzle loads. This procedure does not take into account any of the vessel parameters such as diameter, thickness, material, temperature, allowable stress, internal pressure, etc. Since the basis of Table 7-14 is the flange rating , the associated nozzle loads are generic only. [Pg.462]

Rotating Equipment Nozzle Allowable Loads As discussed earlier, the designer should use the equipment manufacturer s published allowable leads. However, these loads may not be available at the "planning stage of piping layout. For this example, we will make the following assumption. The maximum allowable force on steel rotating equipment nozzles is (200 lb) X (the nominal nozzle size). The maximum limit for the allowable load is 2,000 lb. [Pg.402]

Vessel equipment nozzle allowable loads The maximum allowable load on a nozzle of a vessel is expressed in stress. Earlier, we e q)ressed the rotating equipment allowables in pounds. However, for this section it is useful to express vessel nozzle allots ble in pounds per square inch or stress. [Pg.406]
