The main chemical chaise upon smoking seems to be decarboxylation of THC acid to THC. This is particularly important for fresh, moist samples in which the THC will not be active and will need decarboxylation. Other samples which have been heated or stored awhile normally have had the THC dccarboxyl-ated already. Smoking also converts some of the THC into the inactive CBN and produces in small amounts a number of other compounds of minor significance. Smoking docs not cause much cyclization of CBD to THC unless the marijuana is mixed with tobacco (common in most areas except the U.S.), and even then only a small amount of such cyclization may occur. 

Prescription amphetamines come in tablet or capsule form. The most common way amphetamines are ingested is by swallowing amphetamine pills or capsules. However, drug abusers also crack open the capsules for the amphetamine powder or grind the tablets into a powder. That powder can then be inhaled or snorted. Mixed with tobacco or marijuana, it can be smoked. The ice form of methamphetamine looks like shaved glass slivers or rock salt and can be smoked in a glass pipe. 

Ganja, like marijuana, is made from THC-rich cannabis flowers and resin. It is smoked (sometimes mixed with tobacco) in a pipe, a cigarette, or in bidis, small Indian cigars. Like bhang, ganja is favored by the... 

Hashish. Like charas, hashish is a highly potent, concentrated cannabis resin that has been collected, dried, and pressed into bricks. It is sometimes mixed with tobacco or marijuana and is usually ingested by smoking. 

When opium is abused, it may be combined with other licit or illicit drugs. In these cases, opium may be mixed with tobacco or other vegetable matter for smoking, a mixture called madak (or madhak). An A-bomb is a marijuana cigarette that contains heroin or opium, while Buddha is a strong form of marijuana spiked with opium. Opium may also be mixed with hashish in a concoction called black Russian or black hash. 

All of the neuroleptics are consumed in their pure form and are rarely abused. Most of the sedative-hypnotics of abuse are diverted from legitimate sources and remain in their pure form. However, occasionally powdered forms of illegal drugs (such as ketamine hydrochloride), which are often manufactured in clandestine laboratories, are mixed with tobacco, marijuana, or other drugs. 

The spice is used throughout Europe and Asia and is smoked in a type of cigarette, known locally as kretek, in Indonesia and in occasional coffee bars in the West, mixed with marijuana to create marijuana spliffs. Clove cigarettes (Indonesian kretek) are cigarettes made with a complex blend of tobacco, cloves and a flavouring sauce . Cloves are also an important incense material in Chinese and Japanese culture. 

Most users smoke marijuana in hand-rolled cigarettes called joints, among other names some use pipes or water pipes called bongs. Marijuana cigars called blunts have also become popular. To make blunts, users slice open cigars and replace the tobacco with marijuana, often combined with another drug, such as crack cocaine. Marijuana also is used to brew tea and is sometimes mixed into foods. 

Dimethyltryptamine, commonly known as DMT, can be found as a liquid, colorless crystal or mixed with other substances. The most common method of use is when sprayed on tobacco, parsley or even marijuana. A drug designed originally for research purposes, it produces effects similar to other tryp-tamine derivatives, but comes on very strong and fast, and the trip is over in a couple of hours at most. 

There is no evidence linking smoking marijuana with use of harder drugs. However, mixing hashish with tobacco can lead to cigarette smoking, a potentially deadly addiction.
