Marijuana blunts

Marijuana is believed to be the second most popular intoxicant in the United States today, with alcohol being the first. Marijuana is a subtle drug that is the subject of many myths and controversies. About 10 million people smoke it as a cigarette (called a joint or a nail) or in a pipe (or a bong) on a monthly basis. - Marijuana is also smoked in cigars, known as blunts. [Pg.33]

Most users smoke marijuana in hand-rolled cigarettes called joints, among other names some use pipes or water pipes called bongs. Marijuana cigars called blunts have also become popular. To make blunts, users slice open cigars and replace the tobacco with marijuana, often combined with another drug, such as crack cocaine. Marijuana also is used to brew tea and is sometimes mixed into foods. [Pg.1185]

Ms B s back pain started 5 years earlier, although she did not recall any back injury. She smoked four to five blunts of marijuana per day for 5 years to relieve the pain. She did not use other drugs or alcohol. Her previous psychiatric history was significant only for an inpatient psychiatric hospitalisation 2 years earlier for suicidal thoughts after a conflict with her boyfriend. She complained of nausea at that time. During that hospitalisation, she was started on quetiapine. Her nausea and suicidal thoughts resolved within 4 days, she was promptly discharged and did not continue with medication or outpatient follow-up. [Pg.39]
