Marbles, picking

She picks up a small marble bust of Abraham Lincoln and throws it at you. 

For example, consider a jar of marbles and the probability that you ll pick a red one. Or you look at the seats in an airplane and determine the probability of your getting a particular seat. Or how about the number of boys in a family How does a number of boys become a probability problem (Well, boys can be a problem — I don t know about the probability part.)... 

A probability of 62.5 percent isn t particularly high, but it s better than half. If you had to guess which color marble you might draw at random, you d pick the green marble, because it has the highest probability (more greens than any other color). 

Prepared by igniting carefully picked Carrara marble in a crucible and hydrating with distilled water. 

A mixture is a combination of several different things. For example, if you mix red marbles and blue marbles you have a mixture of different colored marbles. To separate this mixture of marbles you can pick out all the red marbles and place them in a separate pile. 

You can pick up small pieces of dry ice with your fingers, if the pickup and release is done quickly. The film of air between your fingers and the dry ice will protect you for a few seconds. If dry ice is held for more than a few seconds with bare fingers, then freezing of the fingers can occur. It is recommended that a towel or gloves be used when you handle diy ice. About 3/4 lb (340 g) is required for a one pint Dewar. The dry ice is wrapped in a towel and crushed to marble-size pieces with a hammer before it is placed in the Dewar. 

Coarse calcium carbonate with a broad particle size distribution, based on chalk, limestone or marble, or dolomite with an average particle size of approximately 15 pm, is the main filler used in PVC floor tiles. Price is the main specification but control of colour and of levels of coarse particles is needed. It is used as an extender at 200-450 phr. To give extra dimensional stability, reduced water pick-up, and green or hot strength during calendering and extrusion of the carpet high aspect ratio platy particles are used with the calcium carbonate. Stabilisation systems have to be modified to allow for the extra reactivity of the silicate surface.
