Manufacture of polyester-based composites

Hand lay-up is one of the oldest methods of manufacturing reinforced polyesters. The first thermoset composites were manufactured in this way during World War Two. This method is particularly suitable for the manufacture of high-precision complex objects where only a limited number of items are required (100-300 yearly), or for prototypes.
