Manton Gaulin homogenizer

Preparation of lipid microspheres. The lipid microspheres (lipo-PGEj) with a diameter of 0.2 to 0.3 p m arc prepared from the drug, soybean oil and lecithin (Figure 1). The drug to be enclosed in the microspheres is first dissolved in soybean oil, and then emulsified with lecithin by a Manton-Gaulin homogenizer (7,2). [Pg.265]

Miniemulsions are typically formed by subjecting the oil/water/surfactant/ cosurfactant system to a high shear field created by devices such as an ultra-sonifier, the Manton Gaulin homogenizer and the Microfluidizer. These rely tn mechanical shear and/or cavitation to break the oil phase into submicron size droplets. When monomer is used as the oil phase, free radical polymerizatim can subsequently be carried out by addition of an initiator (e.g. potassium persulfate, KPS). [Pg.769]

Some mills of this type are Morehouse (More-house-Cowles, Inc), Premier (Premier Mill Corp), Charlotte (Chemicolloid Corp), Tri-Homo Disperser-Homogenizer (Tri-Homo Corp), Manton -Gaulin (Manton-Gaulin Co), and the Viscolizer (Cherry-Burrell Co)... [Pg.348]

There are a number of commercial homogenizers (e.g., Five-Star, Manton-Gaulin, and Rannie homogenizers) that operate on similar principles (namely, high shear forces and high liquid pressures). These are commonly used for manufacturing emulsions and are adaptable for particle siz< reduction of liposomes in large scale. [Pg.394]

Method of cell disruption E. coli cells are suspended in the binding buffer (0.25 gram cells per mL), and the suspension is passed twice through a homogenizer (Manton Gaulin) at 9000 psi. [Pg.447]
