Mandel test

For the basic evaluation of a linear calibration line, several parameters can be used, such as the relative process standard deviation value (Vxc), the Mandel-test, the Xp value [28], the plot of response factor against concentration, the residual plot, or the analysis of variance (ANOVA). The lowest concentration that has been used for the calibration curve should not be less than the value of Xp (see Fig. 4). Vxo (in units of %) and Xp values of the linear regression line Y = a + bX can be calculated using the following equations [28] ... [Pg.249]

If it is not clear, the Mandel-test may be applied for linearity check. We calculate the linear and the 2" order calibration function and the respective residual standard deviations. If the F-test (as described in the shde) delivers a significant difference between the residual standard deviations, this shows that the 2 order calibration function significantly better describes the calibration. So this function should be preferred. If it is not significantly better, we should use the hnear function... [Pg.190]

The use of surface bound triflate ions has been exploited by Raja et al. to immobilize the complexes [Rh(COD) fSj-(-i-)-PMP ], [Pd(allyl) fSj-(-i-)-PMP ], [Rh(COD) fSj-(-)-AEP rand[Rh(COD) flR,2Rj-(-t)-DED ]"in the pores of silicas possessing various pore sizes with narrow distributions [128]. These constrained chiral catalysts were then tested for the asymmetric hydrogenation of methyl ben-zoylformate to its corresponding methyl mandelate (40°C, methanol, 2 MPa H2). In the homogenous form, only the catalysts [Rh(COD) fSj-(-i-)-PMP ], [Pd(allyl) (Sj-(-i-)-PMP ] exhibit any signiflcant e.e.s under the reaction conditions (53%... [Pg.207]

About 20 different carboxylic acids have been tested by Dale and Mosher for comparison with MTPA 5. Some of them (mandelic and O-methylmandelic acid) have been partly described in the previous section together with MTPA. Some new and important acids have been added since. Figure 1 shows MPTA and a number of carboxylic acids which can be used in a similar way to Mosher s reagent. [Pg.263]

The determination of mandelic acid in urine is recommended as a biological exposure test for ethylbenzene. The Biological Exposure Index (BEI) Committee of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists recommends a mandelic acid concentration in urine of 1.5 g/g creatinine [about 10 mmol/L] as a BEI for ethylbenzene exposure. BEIs represent the levels of the determinants that are most likely to be observed in biological samples collected from healthy workers exposed by inhalation to air concentrations at the level of the TLV. Urine specimens must be collected during... [Pg.240]

Methenamine mandelate, 1 g four times daily, or methen-amine hippurate, 1 g twice daily by mouth (children, 50 mg/kg/d or 30 mg/kg/d, respectively), is used only as a urinary antiseptic to suppress, not treat, urinary tract infection. Acidifying agents (eg, ascorbic acid, 4-12 g/d) may be given to lower urinary pH below 5.5. Sulfonamides should not be given at the same time because they may form an insoluble compound with the formaldehyde released by methenamine. Persons taking methenamine mandelate may exhibit falsely elevated tests for catecholamine metabolites. [Pg.1093]

Mandel and his group at the University of Rochester performed a concrete experiment [14] to test the nature of quantum waves. Their experiment was based on a proposal presented by Croca et al. [15], and is sketched in Fig. 12. [Pg.526]

Substances with low solubility in acid can interfere with the DNPH assay. Mandel-amine (methenamine man delate), an antibacterial medication, and radiopaque contrast material will form a precipitate immediately upon addition of the DNPH reagent. The color and immediacy of formation of this precipitate distinguishes it from the yellowish precipitate of a-keto acid hydrazones. It is very important to have information on patient medications prior to evaluation of the DNPH test. [Pg.31]

Much literature has appeared on interlaboratory comparison studies. Most of this, especially in the statistical field, bears directly on the question of comparison of test methods, or interlaboratory studies of a test method—the question of standardizing methods (7, 9, JO, 11). While useful information and concepts can be gleaned from these publications, especially from Youden and Mandel, our problem is more complex. We are trying to evaluate the performance of various laboratories, using various methods, on single materials. The reports which bear directly on this question are for the most part not statistically elegant and gen-... [Pg.186]

None of the chemical methods (e.g., mandelic acid or methanol test) gives a perfect indication of weather resistance. Most of them only measure partial qualities of the photochemical reactivity [1.58]. [Pg.34]

The linearity of (a part of) the range should be evaluated to check the appropriateness of the straight-line model. This can be achieved by a graphical evaluation of the residual plots or by using statistical tests. It is strongly recommended to use the residual plots in addition to the statistical tests. Mostly, the lack-of-fit test and Mandel s fitting test are used to evaluate the linearity of the regression line [8, 10]. The ISO 8466 describes in detail the statistical evaluation of the linear calibration function [11]. [Pg.138]
