Main challenges to the ZDHC Group

The road to zero discharge of hazardous chemicals by 2020 is a very ambitious and challenging project. Despite om successes in 2012, many challenges remain. Deeper partnerships, collaboration and support of all influencers in the system, especially the textile ehemical industry and suppliers, is necessary to increase the industry s enviromnental performance. 

No this initiative is not just a public relations exercise for the ZDHC brand members. Each of these member organizations has made large investments in this important initiative over the past 18 months, committing staff and financial resources. And, we have made good progress in their commitments towards zero discharge of hazardous chemicals in the life cycle of all products by 2020.

Greenpeace is one of many stakeholders interested in the Joint Roadmap. We received comments during the open consultation period and integrated the recommendations into the final document. We hope to continue reeeiving and welcome support from all stakeholders and constituencies as it is needed for the Joint Roadmap to be successful. However, the brand signatories of the Joint Roadmap are the owners and managers of it, and welcome any other brand on the condition that its commitment is on the level of any ZDHC member brand.
