Magnetization and ac susceptibility

To date, bulk measurements like the magnetization and ac-susceptibility have mostly been performed in order to identify a second transition and a reentrant spin-glass (RSG) phase. This low-temperature transition at Tf manifests itself in a number of ways drop of the demagnetization-limited ac susceptibility (fig. 82)... [Pg.315]

A second transition was detected at 18.5-19 K by the measurement of the magnetization, the AC susceptibility, and the thermal expansion (Franse et al. 1983, Kamma et al. 1983). The transition coincides with the previously reported anomaly... [Pg.344]

At high temperatures, a nanoparticle is in a superparamagnetic state with thermal equilibrium properties as described in the previous section. At low temperatures, the magnetic moment is blocked in one potential well with a small probability to overcome the energy barrier, while at intermediate temperatures, where the relaxation time of a spin is comparable to the observation time, dynamical properties can be observed, including magnetic relaxation and a frequency-dependent ac susceptibility. [Pg.207]
