Lubrication filter selection

Determine the type of compressor lubricant used before selecting a filter. Some filter components such as gaskets, seals and transparent bowls are not compatible with certain synthetic compressor lubricants. Deterioration of these parts as a result of contact with such lubricants may cause the filters to burst and even end in personal injury. Ensure that the manufacturer s pressure rating and flow capacity of the filter are equal to or exeeed the pressure and flow at the point of use. 

The most important consideration is that a realistic view be taken of gear losses when selecting a pump, cooler, and filters for the lubrication system. These should be large enough to do the job.
