Lord studies

Despite the Byers and Lord study, several decades passed in which the clinical notion persisted that acute or severe lead poisoning was the main manifestation of the disease that one had to worry about.

Measurements of potential barriers to internal rotation have been made by far-infrared studies. Hadni measured the frequency of the first torsional transition in methyl amine and found it at 269.5 cm Gray and Lord studied methyl amine and its deuterium derivatives and obtained the torsional frequencies shown in Table I. The spectrum of 1,1,1,2-tetrafluorethane was obtained. The band at 120 cm was interpreted as the torsional frequency for this molecule [ ]. A study of the far-infrared spectrum of propylene was also made [ ].

Lord et al. analyzed a mixture of steroids by CEC-ESI/MS and interfaced externally tapered CEC columns in both sheathless and sheath-flow arrangement. Sensitivity was found 20-fold higher in the sheathless configuration. The same conclusion was drawn by Warriner et ah, who evaluated CEC-nanospray/MS vs. CEC-microspray/MS with an ion trap using five corticosteroids. Cahours et al. used CEC-ESI/MS for a drug metabolism study and obtained a simultaneous baseline separation of flunitrazepam and its major metabolites. For CEC-ESI/MS coupling, the commercially available packed-CEC column was connected... 

Figures 27A and 28B illustrate the spectra of salmon sperm DNA (1 mg ml" ) and calf thymus DNA (3 mg ml ) at pH 6.9, 25 °C, in the presence of 10 mM NaClO. Contributions to the various bands by the individual bases are indicated (G = guanine, C = cytosine, A = adenine, T = thymine). The assignment of Raman bands is based on similar previous studies by Lord and Thomas Small and Peticolas...
