In brief, every powdery specimen takes the form of a eylinder, 3 cm in diameter, 5 cm in length, Tw o stainless slccl-shcathcd CA ihcnnocouplcs 1 and 2 are inserted vertically to the longitudinal center of the cylindrical powdery specimen at the axial center of the specimen and at a radius of 1.29 cm, respectively. It thus follows that the value of ivw/ww takes a definite value of 1.29 cm in the case of this apparatus.

In the case of a ball-type regenerator, dirt and dust tend to accumulate in the balls but their cleaning method is simple and straightforward as fhe ceramic balls can be easily removed, washed, or cleaned. With these features, ball-type regenerators can well be employed for dirty gases that contain scale and dust. For normal configuration, a burner nozzle is installed in the longitudinal center axis of fhe burner and a baffle-fype burner is used.

A total of 29 additional cylindrical silicon nitride tensile specimens have been received for inspection with the CT system. Initial inspection will be done utilizing digital radiography. Any sample showing any type of discontinuity will be further evaluated with one or more CT slices through the longitudinal center of the sample.
