Logistics concept

For a simulation study to be executed, a simulation model must first be made that represents a simplified copy of the re situation. The following data are required a scaled layout of the production, the cycle times of each of the processing steps, the logistic concept including the transportation facilities and the transportation speeds, the process descriptions, and data on the malfunction profiles, such as technical and organizational interruption times and the average length of these times. Once these data has been entered into the model, several simulations can be executed to review and, if necessary, optimize the behavior of the model. [Pg.388]

A final decision about the production concept cannot be made until the material flow has been examined and a logistics concept becomes apparent. The aim is a production with low stock, minimum cycle times, and rapid reactions. Therefore, this planning field determines the arrangement of the facilities and considers not only the internal material flow, but also the connections to suppliers and the distribution of the finalized products to their place of use. The concept of the material flow and the logistics is compiled in interplay between technological, organizational, and logistic aspects, which are refined step by step. [Pg.495]

In many ways, May s sentiment echoes the basic philosophy behind the study of CA, the elementary versions of which, as we have seen, are among the simplest conceivable dynamical systems. There are indeed many parallels and similarities between the behaviors of discrete-time dissipative dynamical systems and generic irreversible CA, not the least of which is the ability of both to give rise to enormously complicated behavior in an attractive fashion. In the subsections below, we introduce a variety of concepts and terminology in the context of two prototypical discrete-time mapping systems the one-dimensional Logistic map, and the two-dimensional Henon map. [Pg.177]

Based on reports and recommendations of the Army Materiel Acquisition Review Committee (AMARC) on 1 April 1974, a major reorganization of AMC was instituted for completion within four years (Ref 4). The concept of separate development and logistic centers was replaced with Research and Development (R D) Commands or Materiel Readiness Commands, under the US Army Materiel Development and Readiness Command (DARCOM). [Pg.427]

For the investigation of logistic questions or for the design of pipeless plants, like in the presented use-case, PPSiM offers a suitable solution. The comparison between the two plant concepts showed that the developed pipeless plant configuration leads to 20 % shorter processing times for similar investments, due to the higher utilization of the plant equipment. [Pg.54]

Introducing new service concepts restructuring product ranges and production sites usually raises the issue of outsourcing. Many chemical firms bundle tasks such as power supply, maintenance, and logistics in independent companies with a pronounced service mentality. This allows the business units to concentrate on their core business (see also Chapter 20). [Pg.333]
