Logic unresolved

When conventional methods of manual optimisation are no longer sufficient, it is possible to use deconvolution software or fuzzy logic to deconvolute unresolved peaks into Gaussian components for which the area can be easily measured (see Fig. 1.12). 

KB is a 59-year-old man who presents to the clinic with unresolved mild chest pain after taking numerous SL nitroglycerin tablets (one every 5 minutes over a total of 30 minutes). He reports that he hasn t used these pills for over a year, but still keeps them by his bedside. He also adds, "Now that I need these pills, they don t work " Which is the most logical reason for the ineffective SL tablets ... 

For many years the question of whether adjacent cellulose molecules run in the same or in opposite directions has been unresolved experimentally. The anti-parallel arrangement was generally assumed, however. Recently, Colvin (6) demonstrated that bacterial cellulose is formed in the anti-parallel arrangement. This follows logically from his earlier observations that microfibrils are synthesized by endwise growth, rather than by aggregation of preformed cellulose molecules and that the rate of growth is similar at both ends of the microfibril. 

The difference between resolved and unresolved types is discussed in Box 7.7. Of the two types declared in the STD LOGIC package, stdjogic is the one from which a variety of subt)q es are declared and sets the main standard. As already mentioned, the XOlZ is a subtype of this type, but others such as UXOlZ also exist. These can exploit the wide range of functions available for the type and at the same time maintain their portability.
