There are suggestions that for the prevention of HF some agents should be better avoided, although the logic for these believes has not been proven. Many HF programs, for example, limit alcohol consumption to some extent. Smoking, the use of cocaine or amphetamines are also believed to be toxic. However it is well known that certain anti-tumor agents such as anthracyclines and also irradiation of the mediastinum may cause cardiac dysfunction. There is no clear evidence for the benefit of early treatment of these subjects, but close attention is certainly advisable. [Pg.595]

Depending on subsidiary assumptions the subject makes, he rapidly evolves a new arithmetical logic that does not involve the number three. To the question, "what does two plus one equal " he answers, "Four." To the question, "sic divided by two equals what " he answers either, "Two" or "Four," depending on the subsidiary assumptions. Thus a whole new logic can be readily programmed in the d-ASC of hypnosis, various state-specific logics have been reported for meditative and psychedelic states, but they do not seem communicable in the ordinary d-SoC. [Pg.114]

The next level of abstraction is the conventional machine language and it is more people friendly, more efficient for programming, and less subject to programming errors. For a machine with all the abstractions of Fig. 4 present, the conventional machine language is not understood by the digital logic abstraction and interpreted by the microprogram. [Pg.27]

Almost all logically oriented programs for computer assisted organic S3mthesis design work in such a way that the atoms of a reaction centre are preselected (e.g. by user) and the admissible reactions are simulated only on this reaction centre. The remaining part of the molecule is understood as an inert "core , it is not subject to chemical reactions. [Pg.166]

PASS II produces within the computer a software model of the circuit or of a part of this circuit by linking the individual logical elements with one another via the input processor (EPASS). This model is then subjected to a check program, that is the simulation processor (SPASS) computes the... [Pg.134]
