Limited host range signal

Isolated compounds were collected after separation by HPLC and assayed for wr-induction in the strains described. It became apparent that the limited host range strain responded to all the substances that induced vir expression in the wide host range strain, but the LHR strain was less sensitive to the same substances and as a result was considered a less sensitive bioassay organism. Therefore work on isolation of grapevine-derived signal compounds continued using the more sensitive WHR strain and plate assay system described. 

Setting up the concentration of host [H]o is limited by the measured properties, the apparatus, and other features of the experiment. For example, [H]o for UV/ vis spectroscopy, which depends greatly on molar absorptivity, is roughly in the range of 0.0001 M because of absorbance limitation from noise level to <2. [HJq for NMR spectroscopy is roughly around 0.01 M because of signal-to-noise ratio...
